The Endocrine Department of St Bartholomew's Hospital has run a weekly Friday clinical / academic meeting for many years. The current location is the James Paget Room and the time is 2:30-4:30pm, followed by tea.

Cases are presented by junior doctors and medical students, followed by an old-fashioned intellectual debate, frequently enlivened by the opinions of distinguished visitors and expert panel members. Additional aspects such as radiology and histopathology are also reviewed. These meetings are used to review the investigation, diagnosis and management of current patients and provide an important focus of scholarship in their clinical care.

The meetings take place weekly, however once a month is an enhanced meeting with an invited expert panel and a theme. These have accreditation for CPD with the Royal College of Physicians so please register for these in advance.

The dates of forthcoming enhanced meetings for 2012 are:

Friday 10th February  Difficult adrenal cases

Friday 9th March Pituitary cases

Friday 20th April Thyroid cases

Friday 6th July Hypoglycaemia

Friday 5th October Phaeochromocytoma

Records of the Friday meetings are available in the form of a blog (information restricted to ensure patient confidentiality). The blog is available to view by invitees only - please contact Dr Dominic Cavlan if you would like more details about this.
